Duty/Shift Manager

Duty Manager responsibilities include overseeing daily operations when on shift, ensuring excellent food and service standards, team productivity, monitoring efficiency of all processes and creating a positive work environment for staff.

You will have completed your LCQ and applied for your managers license* and comply with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act and conditions of the Licence, to have your name displayed prominently on the wall and to reduce alcohol-related harm.

Duty Managers will also be in charge of the fire evacuation scheme if no one else is appointed at your venue.

Ultimately, you will ensure all operations flow smoothly and help us meet our company goals.

Key daily tasks:

General operations

  • Shift management of staff and front of house food service standards, and customer experience. Oversee that all opening and/or closing duties of the outlets are completed correctly for the AM or PM Duty Shift and that cleanliness and food hygiene standards are met by all team members and checklists are completed and signed off.

  • Managing staff breaks and healthy and safety of employees on shift (shoes, uniform etc), supervise and adjust roster with permission to budget of the day and week

  • Shift responsibility for all customer issues, mediate shift staff requests, complaints and Uber eats/ takeaway feedback. Try to summarize problems met, report in writing using EOD and communicate with Senior/ Head Chef and Restaurant Manager for process improvement

  • Update daily bookings, emails, special and sold out items, lead staff cleaning/to do list and training schedules.

  • Notice customer behaviour for intoxication, staff performance and make sure expectations are met or corrected.

Stock

  • Inventory and maintenance of stock levels for front of house items and those used within the businesses, ensure freshness and cleanliness, report incidents.

  • Check invoice, stock rotation, change coins, cash up and banking notes.

  • Morning stock checklist completed and sent to warehouse in accordance with the Operations Manager budgetary guidelines instructions. Ensure communication with Ops Manager and Duty Manager team regarding costs changes of suppliers, and wastage control.

  • Place order with par level and organise with supplier for best delivery time/outcome/frequency/freshness/stock cost of goods on hand.

Financial

  • AM- Responsible for analyzing abnormal till activities, Uber feedbacks /discounts and the correct operation of the POS systems. Updating tasting notes, alcohol knowledge, update recipes, and note any all menu changes

  • PM- Make sure right person on right section, upselling with target. Balancing of all daily and nightly cash drawers and POS; daily roster efficiency and check cashup the day before in the morning and current night.

Take out and Uber Eats

  • Control operation timing of Uber orders, order delays, food temperature and handover to drivers once orders are complete and checked.

  • Manage Food temperature for orders, follow procedure to double check bags stored under heat lamps where possible, before given to driver.

  • Enduring all takeaway and Uber orders are packed securely, complete as per order with sauces, cutlery and napkins as instructed.

  • Note on uber reviews and feedback to kitchen, respond with care and vouchers.
