The infamous festival of spice is back for 2023! Spicy Boys are bringing the heat to Riverside Market for the ultimate chilli eating competition in the South Island.

Southern Spice 2023 has come around quickly and we're excited to be able to host it this year in the middle of chili season. This means we'll have massive range of chilies for the competitors to eat their way through and of course get past the wildcard rounds we sneak in there.

From Midday at Riverside we'll be having Hot Sauce companies from all around NZ putting up stalls and giving you tasters of their sauces.

The chili eating competition starts at 5pm and it's going to get wobbly this year…

Inside Riverside the vendors are creating spicy dishes and we'll be giving maps away so you can check off all the spicy food you eat on the day.
