an 11-year-old singer from Lyttelton, New Zealand, recently won the Junior NZ Golden Guitar awards. She took home the overall Golden Guitar trophy, as well as wins in the Country Gospel and Country Vocal Solo categories, and runner-up in Country Rock. Cleo's success has earned her an invitation to the prestigious Tamworth Country Music Festival in Australia in January 2026. 

Cleo's journey to the Golden Guitar Awards began with encouragement from her vocal coach, Arlie McCormick. She auditioned and then traveled to Gore with her family, where she competed in her first major singing competition. Her winning performance included a rendition of Miley Cyrus's "The Climb". 

Beyond her musical achievements, Cleo is also involved in other activities, including GymbaROO songs for young children and sporting activities. She even performed a solo of "A Million Dreams" at the Lyttelton Arts Factory when she was just 5 years old. Cleo's fundraising efforts to get to the Tamworth Country Music Festival are underway, with a recent performance at the Lyttelton Arts Festival contributing to her cause. .
