Join us for a vibrant celebration of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, at Riverside Market this Saturday.

Immerse yourself in the richness of Indian culture at Riverside Market this Saturday 2nd of November from 5pm. We have many unique Indian activities planned for you from enchanting dance performances to henna decorating, sari draping workshop and much more.

Diwali is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row of clay lamps that are lit outside homes in India to symbolise the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness.

Schedule is as follows*:

5pm: Opening speeches and acknowledgements followed by:

Sari Draping Workshop: Try on beautiful saris and learn the delicate art of how to drape them.

Henna Decorating: Indulge in intricate henna designs (paid activity).

Clay Lamp Decoration: Get creative with clay lamp decorating (cost: gold coin donation).

Rangoli Art Competition: Contribute to the vibrant Rangoli designs adorning the floor.

Block Printing and Card Making: Unleash your creativity in our block printing and card-making station.

6pm: Experience the magic of Diwali through our live performances, including traditional dances and music that will take you to the heart of India.

Dusk/8pm: Join us down by the river for a candle lighting at dusk.
