Tea Palace London is bringing its renowned British tea experience to Riverside Market in Christchurch — and we’re looking for enthusiastic, hands-on individuals to join our stall team.

As a Market Stall Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of our offering: preparing and serving teas, engaging with customers, and ensuring every cup is brewed to perfection.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve our full range of teas — both for takeaway and teapots for on-site customers.

• Learn and confidently explain our tea blends, including flavour profiles and ingredients.

• Brew teas to correct temperatures and timings (guides provided – learning expected over time).

• Engage warmly with customers, offering samples and upselling where appropriate.

• Use initiative to decide what teas to sample, taking into account weather, customer flow, and tourist traffic.

• Plate and present food items supplied externally, including afternoon tea-style service, to a consistent brand standard.

• Maintain cleanliness of the stall, including washing up and operating the dishwasher to ensure service readiness.

• Collect teapots and crockery from seating areas when necessary.

• Monitor stock levels, manage rotation using FIFO and day-dotting, and keep the counter fully stocked and visually appealing.

About You:

• Confident, engaging, and customer-focused with strong communication skills.

• Enthusiastic about tea and keen to learn about our blends and brewing methods.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a hands-on approach.

• Reliable and organised, with a good eye for presentation and detail.

• Prior hospitality or food prep experience is helpful but not essential — full training provided.
