Bellbird Baked Goods was founded in 2010 by Christchurch-born and raised Jeremy MacCormack. After a stint in bakeries overseas, he wished to bring traditional sourdough breads and authentic viennoiserie (French pastries) to his hometown. Jeremy started baking bread in his backyard, swapping it for firewood and vegetables with his neighbours, then went on to selling his goods at the Riccarton Bush Farmers Market, before moving into The Tannery in 2012. All the products you see on the shelves at their new Riverside stall are handmade in Woolston.

The bread is made with flour grown and milled in Canterbury. It is fermented at a low temperature for an extended period of time which bring out the flavours and increase its digestibility. The pastries are all made with NZ butter, Canterbury flour, local free-range eggs and Trade Aid organic sugar and chocolate.

The best ingredients combined with the extensive savoir-faire (know-how) of their bakers makes for some of the best pastries in this part of New Zealand. Come and try for yourself!
